Adel Beck is one of the UK’s largest Secure Children’s Home and provides a safe, secure and highly supportive environment for girls and boys aged 10 to 18 with complex needs, placed through welfare or youth justice routes. It brings together care, education, health and specialist interventions to reduce risk, promote positive change and prepare young people for life beyond secure care.
As Casework and Interventions Manager, you will hold a business-critical position within the home’s Leadership Team, leading Case Management, Interventions and Resettlement and shaping how we understand, support and prepare young people for their future.
Our ambition is clear, the progress a young person makes in secure care should continue long after they leave. You will lead purposeful care planning, targeted interventions and resettlement, helping young people develop the skills, resilience and capacity to self-regulate and sustain positive change beyond discharge.
Leading three Casework and Interventions Leads and two Resettlement Officers, you will develop a skilled and reflective team, working closely with the Health Team Manager and CAMHS colleagues to ensure assessment, formulation and interventions are coordinated, psychologically informed and responsive to individual need. You will also provide constructive professional support and challenge to social workers and partner agencies, particularly when planning for discharge.
Your influence will extend beyond Adel Beck, through national forums across health, youth justice and the secure children’s home sector, providing opportunities to learn, share innovation and influence wider practice.

About you
As our new Casework and Interventions Manager, you will bring significant and meaningful experience of working with children who can be difficult to engage with, including those who are looked after as a result of complex life experiences and those subject to criminal proceedings or serving custodial sentences. This will be complemented by credible leadership, professional curiosity, resilience and the confidence to make sound decisions within a complex and fast paced secure environment.
Proven experience of leading and developing staff within children’s services, youth justice, health, education or social care will be essential, alongside a strong understanding of trauma, assessment and formulation and the ability to apply solution focused and trauma informed approaches to complex needs and behaviours.
Experience of complex casework, targeted interventions and resettlement will also be important, with a clear focus on measurable outcomes and developing young people’s capacity for sustained self-regulation. The role requires confident multidisciplinary working with social care, NHS CAMHS, education and youth justice professionals, providing effective support alongside appropriate professional challenge.
Strong safeguarding, risk management and professional judgement will underpin the role, supported by emotional intelligence and sound decision making. A working knowledge of the Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, SCCIF, Youth Justice Standards and safeguarding requirements will support the use of quality assurance and evidence informed practice to drive continuous improvement.
About the role
The Casework and Interventions Manager is a business-critical member of the home’s Leadership Team, providing strategic and operational leadership of the Case Management, Interventions and Resettlement Service. The role oversees care planning, targeted interventions and resettlement activity, ensuring that placement aims, objectives and individual needs are effectively identified, delivered and reviewed. A central focus is preparing young people to develop the skills, resilience and capacity to self regulate and sustain progress following discharge.
The post holder leads three Casework and Interventions Leads and two Resettlement Officers, developing a skilled, confident and reflective team working within solution focused and trauma framework principles. The role provides appropriate support and professional challenge to social workers and partner agencies, ensuring agreed placement objectives and the assessed needs of young people remain central to planning and intervention.
You will work closely with the Health Team Manager to ensure effective multidisciplinary assessment, intervention planning and delivery. This close partnership will enable interventions delivered by your team to benefit, where appropriate, from clinical consultation and oversight, ensuring that practice is psychologically informed, coordinated and responsive to each young person’s presentation and needs.
As part of the role, you will actively participate in national forums involving health, youth justice and other secure children’s homes across the UK. This provides opportunities to influence and learn from national practice, strengthen transition and resettlement arrangements, and develop approaches that improve young people’s experiences and their capacity to self-regulate following discharge.
The role ensures high quality and compliant practice in accordance with the Children’s Homes Regulations, Youth Justice standards, Leeds City Council requirements and the home’s policies and procedures, while contributing to workforce development, quality assurance and continuous service improvement.

Role:
To lead and deliver an effective Case Management, Interventions and Resettlement service that meets the needs of children and young people within a secure setting. The role ensures that care planning and intervention programmes are compliant with Children’s Homes Regulations, Youth Justice standards, Leeds City Council requirements and the home’s policies and procedures. You will promote high quality practice across the workforce, ensuring staff are supported, developed and equipped through a strong workforce development approach. Working in close partnership with commissioned health services, you will contribute to a fully integrated, multi disciplinary approach to care and intervention delivery.
Responsibilities

- Design, commission and deliver targeted behavioural and therapeutic and trauma related programmes that respond to the assessed needs and offending profiles of children and young people.
- Coordinate and monitor all review processes, ensuring that planning, documentation and outcomes are timely, robust and compliant for both welfare and youth justice placements.
- Chair Section 25 welfare placement reviews, initial planning meetings and other key professional forums, ensuring clear direction and accountability.
- Maintain accurate data systems, producing regular performance and quality assurance reports to inform service improvement and demonstrate impact.
- Develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal colleagues and external partners, ensuring effective communication and an integrated approach to service delivery.
- Work alongside the Health Care Manager to ensure that physical and mental health needs are consistently met and embedded within care planning.
- Use appropriate systems and technology to support effective service delivery and team coordination.
- Develop and maintain high quality resources to support care planning, interventions and workforce development.
- Oversee the delivery of group work programmes, ensuring consistency, quality and ongoing support to Casework and Intervention Leads.
- Respond to challenging behaviour in a proactive and constructive manner, including the use of approved physical intervention techniques where necessary.
- Act as a strategic and operational link with national youth justice effective practice developments, ensuring the service remains current and evidence informed.
- Demonstrate a commitment to continuous professional development, using reflection and learning to improve practice and contribute to innovation.
- Undertake Duty Manager responsibilities on a rota basis (one per week), providing clear leadership and decision making within the home.
- Provide consistent management oversight, guidance and support to staff, ensuring safe and effective practice.
- Lead on developing and maintaining systems that effectively manage risk and support positive behaviour.
- Contribute to recruitment, supervision, appraisal and development of staff, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures.
- As part of the Strategic Leadership Team, contribute to service development, reporting and decision making.
- Ensure high standards of care are maintained, with appropriate staffing levels and effective deployment of resources.
- Ensure all activities and equipment are risk assessed and safe for use.
- Administer and record medication in line with policy where required.
- Actively contribute to the development and review of policies, procedures and practice guidance.
- Manage allocated budgets in line with financial regulations, ensuring value for money and effective use of resources.
- Promote and embed a culture of effective practice, ensuring staff are informed, supported and equipped to deliver high quality work.
- Undertake any additional duties appropriate to the role.
- Comply with all Leeds City Council policies and procedures, including health and safety requirements.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion, ensuring all practice is anti-oppressive and child centred.
- Lead in the oversight of s25 Childrens Act 1989 referrals and subsequent admissions.
