Job Summary

The Membership Manager will lead the development and coordination of the organisation’s membership programme, focusing on growing, engaging and retaining a diverse community of members. This role plays a key part in strengthening relationships, enhancing the member experience, and supporting the organisation’s mission through active engagement and community building.

About the Role

The Membership Manager is a key role within a collaborative, purpose-driven environment. Combining strategic oversight with hands-on delivery, the postholder will work closely with the wider team to develop initiatives that attract new members, deepen engagement, and foster a welcoming and inclusive community.

This role is well-suited to someone who is organised, proactive and passionate about people, engagement, and community development.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Support the development and delivery of a membership plan to grow and retain a diverse member base
Manage the member journey, ensuring a positive, inclusive and engaging experience from onboarding onwards
Lead on member communications and work with the team to promote membership opportunities
Maintain accurate membership records, monitor key metrics, and use insights to improve engagement
Support the planning and delivery of member events and initiatives that foster community and participation

Essential

Strong interest in membership, community engagement or audience development
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Good organisational skills and ability to manage tasks independently
Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
Proactive, reliable and committed to delivering high-quality outcomes

Desirable

Experience in membership, customer service or community-focused roles
Familiarity with CRM systems or data management
Experience supporting events or engagement activities
Interest in the arts, cultural or charity sector
