About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fettler / Assembly Team Leader to join the team at Laser Expertise Ltd. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for overseeing the fettling and assembly operations within the production environment, ensuring products are completed to the highest quality standards while meeting customer deadlines.
The successful candidate will lead by example, supporting and supervising the team whilst maintaining productivity, safety, and continuous improvement across the department.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead and supervise the fettling and assembly team on a day-to-day basis
- Allocate workloads and monitor productivity to ensure production targets are achieved
- Carry out fettling, deburring, grinding, polishing, and finishing of fabricated metal components
- Support assembly operations in line with engineering drawings and customer specifications
- Conduct quality checks to ensure products meet company and customer standards
- Train, support, and mentor team members to improve performance and capability
- Promote and maintain high housekeeping and Health & Safety standards throughout the department
- Identify production issues and work proactively to resolve them
- Liaise with Production, Quality, Welding, and Engineering teams to ensure smooth workflow
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and process efficiencies
- Ensure all completed work is accurately recorded and reported as required
Skills & Experience Required
Essential
· Previous experience within a fabrication, fettling, or assembly environment
- Experience leading or supervising a production team
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
- Strong knowledge of hand tools, grinders, deburring, and finishing techniques
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Good communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
- Strong awareness of Health & Safety requirements within manufacturing
Desirable
· Experience within sheet metal or laser-cutting manufacturing environments
- Welding or fabrication knowledge
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
- FLT or overhead crane licence (advantageous but not essential)
Working Hours
Standard hours: 40
· Monday to Thursday
