Home to School Transport Driver SEPTEMBER START
NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED, suitable for current private hire taxi drivers
Rem Travel Ltd is seeking reliable, caring and professional Home to School Transport Drivers to join our growing team. This role involves transporting children and young people, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), safely between their home and school.
As the first and last point of contact in a child's school day, you will play an important role in ensuring every journey is safe, comfortable and punctual. We are looking for patient, dependable individuals who are committed to safeguarding children and delivering an outstanding transport service.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport children and young people to and from school in accordance with agreed routes and schedules.
- Ensure passengers are picked up and dropped off safely and on time.
- Work Shifts Times: 2 Hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon
- Conduct daily vehicle safety and cleanliness checks before each shift.
- Build positive, professional relationships with pupils, parents, carers, schools and council representatives.
- Support children appropriately during their journey, following individual transport plans where required.
- Work closely with Passenger Assistants where one is allocated to the route.
- Report incidents, safeguarding concerns, accidents or delays promptly using company procedures.
- Maintain accurate journey records and complete any required documentation.
- Keep all passenger information confidential and comply with UK GDPR requirements.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence.
- Valid Private Hire Taxi Driver Licence issued by Coventry City Council or a local authority.
- Willingness to travel to Coventry
- No Criminal Record
- Good English
- Enhanced DBS Certificate suitable for working with children (or willingness to obtain one).
- Right to work in the UK (Passport etc)
- Good knowledge of local roads and safe driving practices.
- Excellent time management and reliability.
- Professional, friendly and caring manner.
- Ability to remain calm and patient when working with children.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience (but not essential)
- Experience working on Home to School Transport contracts.
- Experience supporting children with SEND
