ROLE OVERVIEW
We are seeking a proactive and technically strong Assistant Financial Accounting Manager to join our growing finance team. This role will play a key part in managing the month-end reporting process, strengthening financial controls, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and developing the wider finance team.
The successful candidate will work across multiple entities and currencies within the UK, Europe, and America, supporting accurate and timely financial reporting in GBP, EUR, and USD. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to step into a future finance leadership role, with significant exposure to management reporting, technical accounting, audit processes, and process improvement initiatives.
The role requires a strong people-focused approach, with responsibility for mentoring and developing team members while driving high standards across the finance function.
PRINCIPLE SCOPE & PURPOSE OF JOB
This role will play a key part in managing the month-end reporting process, strengthening financial controls, supporting budgeting and forecasting activities, and developing the wider finance team.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES
· Assist with the preparation and review of monthly management accounts across multiple entities.
· Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting.
· Analyse financial performance, investigate variances, and provide commentary to management.
· Maintain strong financial controls and accounting procedures.
· Support budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow reporting activities.
· Review balance sheet reconciliations and resolve outstanding items.
· Support external audits and assist with statutory reporting requirements.
· Manage, mentor, and support members of the finance team.
· Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting, and efficiencies within finance.
· Work closely with other departments to improve financial reporting and understanding across the business.
· Produce ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required.
· Support the use and development of reporting tools including Excel, Business Central, and Power BI.
Skills & Qualifications
· Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, or ready to step into a management-level position.
· Strong technical accounting knowledge and understanding of financial controls.
· Experience preparing management accounts and supporting month-end processes.
· Excellent analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
· Confident working across multiple entities and currencies.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a people-focused approach.
· Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
· Strong Microsoft Excel skills are essential.
· Experience with Business Central and exposure to Power BI would be advantageous.
· An accounting qualification is beneficial but not essential.
· Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and improve processes.
