Krema is an independent artisan bakery based in Edinburgh, specialising in handcrafted breads, pastries and bespoke celebration cakes. As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Operations & Business Manager to join our leadership team and help shape the next stage of our journey.
This is a senior leadership role where you'll work closely with the Directors to oversee the day-to-day running of the business, improve operational performance and help drive sustainable growth. You'll lead our management team, ensuring the business operates efficiently while maintaining the high standards of quality, service and craftsmanship that Krema is known for.
The role is primarily focused behind the scenes, providing strategic direction, improving systems and processes, managing financial performance, overseeing procurement and supporting the development of our people. You'll enable our retail and production teams to focus on delivering an outstanding experience for every customer.
What you'll be doing
- Leading the overall operational performance of the business.
- Managing and supporting the Krema Manager and Kitchen Manager.
- Developing efficient systems, processes and ways of working to improve productivity and profitability.
- Monitoring business performance through KPIs, budgets and financial reporting.
- Overseeing purchasing, supplier relationships and procurement.
- Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and business growth.
- Supporting recruitment, staff development and performance management.
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, health & safety and employment legislation.
- Working alongside the Directors on business planning, commercial decisions and future expansion.
About you
We're looking for someone who enjoys building efficient businesses, leading people and making a real impact.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience in an Operations Manager, Business Manager or General Manager role.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness.
- Excellent leadership and people management skills.
- Experience managing budgets, procurement and operational performance.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- A proactive, hands-on approach with the confidence to make decisions and drive positive change.
Experience within hospitality, food production, retail or another fast-paced operational environment would be highly advantageous.
