About Brightwells

Brightwells is one of the UK's leading auctioneers of fine wines, providing specialist auction services to collectors, investors and the wine trade. Our nationally and internationally recognised Wine Department is built on expertise, exceptional customer service and operational excellence.

We are looking for a motivated and organised individual to join our team as a Wine Auctions Operations and Business Administration Apprentice. This is an exciting opportunity to gain valuable workplace experience while working towards a nationally recognised Business Administration Apprenticeship.

The Role

As a Wine Auctions Operations and Business Administration Apprentice, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth running of our wine auctions while developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for a successful career in business administration.

Working across cellar operations, auction preparation and customer service, you'll gain practical experience in a specialist auction environment while studying towards your apprenticeship qualification.

This is a varied, hands-on role that combines practical warehouse responsibilities with administration, photography, customer service and business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare wine lots for auction, including photography, cataloguing and accurate descriptions.
Receive, organise and store consignments within the cellar.
Prepare sold lots for customer collection and delivery.
Arrange and support the storage, handling and distribution of wine before and after auction.
Maintain accurate stock records using digital systems and handheld devices.
Liaise with buyers and vendors by telephone, email and in person.
Ensure wine is presented and stored to the highest standards.
Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment.
Handle and move cases of wine safely, following Health & Safety procedures at all times.
To be trained in use of Fork-lift truck.
Support the wider Wine Department to ensure auctions are delivered efficiently and successfully.
Complete apprenticeship coursework and apply your learning within the workplace.

About the Apprenticeship

Alongside your day-to-day role, you will study towards a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship. You will receive structured training and support from both Brightwells and your training provider, developing skills in:

Business administration and office systems
Customer service and communication
Organisation and time management
Digital technologies and business software
Record keeping and data management
Team working and professional development

You'll have dedicated time for your apprenticeship studies and be supported throughout your learning journey.

About You

We're looking for someone who is:

Organised, reliable and highly attentive to detail.
Keen to learn and develop a career in business administration.
Confident using computers, digital systems, cameras and handheld technology.
Comfortable communicating professionally with customers and colleagues.
Able to work independently as well as part of a close-knit team.
Physically fit and happy carrying out manual handling duties.
Proactive with a positive, can-do attitude.
Able to drive their own vehicle and, where required, company vehicles.
Familiar with basic Health & Safety practices.

An interest in wine and spirits would be an advantage, although full training will be provided and previous industry experience is not essential.
