The postholder will be based in the relevant School Office and will be managed by the Head Teacher. The postholder will assist the Head Teacher with the provision of a variety of administrative/clerical duties and will assist in the supervision of an Employed Trainee.
Specific tasks of the Clerical Assistant will be:
- To provide switchboard and reception duties, being the first point of contact at the school, dealing with enquiries from staff, pupils, parents, outside agencies and the general public.
- Logging and sorting mail and preparing mail for posting.
- To assist with record keeping and processing of all types of financial transactions, including purchase orders, invoices and journals, and day-to-day administration and banking of school meals money, the School Fund and petty cash.

Bell's Brae Primary School is a non-denominational school located in central Lerwick. It consists of a Primary, an Early Learning and Childcare Setting and an ASN department. The school catchment area is from Frakkafield encompassing the majority of Lerwick, excluding Sound. There is currently a total of 300 pupils on the roll.
