We're looking for an experienced National Health and Safety Advisor to join our Legal Services team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape health and safety practice across one of the UK's leading health and social care charities, influencing a culture where safety, wellbeing and continuous improvement are part of everyday working life.
Working alongside the National Health and Safety Manager, you'll provide expert advice and practical guidance to colleagues across England and Scotland. From strengthening governance and leading audits to supporting complex investigations and driving organisational improvement, you'll help ensure our people can deliver life-changing services safely and confidently.
This is a highly visible national role, ideal for someone who enjoys building relationships, influencing positive change and making a lasting impact across a diverse organisation.
We're looking for a credible, proactive and highly experienced health and safety professional who combines technical expertise with excellent relationship-building skills.
You'll be confident influencing stakeholders at every level, translating legislation into practical solutions and supporting managers to create safe, compliant and positive working environments.
Given the strategic nature of this national role, we're seeking someone with a minimum of 10 years' experience in a senior health and safety advisory or management position, ideally gained within a complex, multi-site organisation.
You'll also bring:

A NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent Level 6 qualification).

Extensive experience of developing and implementing health and safety management systems.

Significant experience of audits, investigations and organisational risk management.

Excellent knowledge of current health and safety legislation and ISO 45001.

Outstanding communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn data into meaningful action.

A commitment to continuous professional development.
Experience within health, social care, healthcare, charity or other people-focused environments would be highly advantageous. IOSH membership and Internal Auditor qualifications are also desirable.
Location: The successful candidate will be based from one of our offices in Manchester, Leeds or Scotland, with regular national travel across England and Scotland.
Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week*.

Responsibilities:
What you'll be doing

Providing expert health and safety advice and guidance across the organisation.

Supporting managers to identify, assess and manage workplace risks.

Conducting audits and monitoring compliance against internal standards and ISO 45001 requirements.

Investigating accidents and incidents and supporting learning and improvement.

Analysing health and safety data, identifying trends and producing meaningful reports.

Supporting the development of policies, procedures and training programmes.

Working collaboratively with HR, Facilities, Quality, IT and operational teams.

Contributing to organisational projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Building positive relationships with colleagues, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
