Are you a compassionate and experienced counsellor who is passionate about supporting young people with their emotional health and wellbeing?
We are looking for an approachable and resilient College Counsellor to join our supportive Student Services and Wellbeing team, who is working as a counsellor within education, healthcare, a charity, community service or private practice, supporting young people aged 16 and over with challenges such as anxiety, depression and self-harm.
In this rewarding role, you will manage a caseload of students, providing confidential, time-limited counselling and helping them overcome personal challenges that may affect their studies or wider lives. You will maintain appropriate records, review students’ support needs and work closely with our safeguarding and wellbeing colleagues. You will also provide drop-in support, crisis intervention, workshops and signposting to specialist external services where required.
You will hold an accredited counselling qualification and have at least two years’ post-qualification experience as a counsellor, including experience of working with young people aged 16 and over. Registration with the BACP, UKCP or BPS, alongside relevant continued professional development, would be desirable.
Most importantly, you will be patient, sensitive and non-judgemental, with the emotional resilience and professional boundaries needed to support young people through challenging situations.
At Bishop Burton and Riseholme College, you will join a welcoming and collaborative team committed to ensuring every student feels heard, valued and supported. This is an opportunity to make a genuine difference to students’ lives while continuing to develop your professional practice through supervision and ongoing development.
