Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Block Paver to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for laying paving blocks and ensuring the durability and aesthetic appeal of outdoor surfaces such as driveways, pathways, and patios. This role requires attention to detail, physical stamina, and a good understanding of masonry techniques. The position offers an excellent opportunity to develop practical skills within the construction industry while contributing to high-quality projects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces by clearing debris and ensuring a level foundation for paving
- Lay paving blocks accurately according to design specifications and plans
- Use hand tools, power tools, and masonry equipment to cut, shape, and set blocks
- Mix and apply mortar or other adhesives as required for secure installation
- Ensure proper alignment, spacing, and compaction of paving units for a professional finish
- Maintain safety standards at all times, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Assist with site preparation, including excavation and groundwork where necessary
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently and to high standards
Skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as trowels, levels, and hammers
- Experience in bricklaying, masonry, or similar trades is highly desirable
- Ability to operate power tools safely and effectively
- Knowledge of carpentry, roofing, or welding is beneficial but not essential
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail in layout and measurements
- Physical fitness with the ability to lift heavy materials and work outdoors in various weather conditions
- Good teamwork skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving
