What you need to know about the role
As Safety and Training Facilitator you will support the line management in the development, implementation, monitoring and administration of the site’s continuous H&S enhancement strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the continual reduction of risk, injury and loss.
- Report and analyse all incidents in their area of responsibility and track actions to closure.
- Develop relationships with safety & operational professionals across British Steel to ensure a Sharing & Learning network is created and maintained.
- Conduct plant H&S inspections and encourage interdependent behaviours.
- Communicate the findings of incidents through notifications & red stripes to ensure sharing and learning across the company.
- Assist the HS&E department to develop Health and Safety processes to implement changes to the business management system and procedures.
- Attend monthly Facilitator meetings to build relationships and ensure a consistent approach is adopted across the company
- Manage and ensure effective delivery of training and competency assessments across your area.
- Facilitate engaging sessions, including inductions, that meet diverse learning needs.
- Work with plant management teams to determine forward training delivery plans, priorities and release
- Build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders to embed best practice.
- Maintain accurate auditable training records and ensure compliance with standards.
- Support continuous improvement in safety, quality, and operational performance.
What we need to know about you
We are looking for someone who is passionate about Safety and Training and is willing to challenge people at all levels within the business to work towards and improve health and safety results. You need to be someone who is extremely well organised and able to work under pressure, to tight timescales.
We’re looking for people with relevant vocational qualifications such as NEBOSH Certificate and other relevant health and safety qualifications. An outline knowledge of health and safety process and underpinning legislation applicable to manufacturing environments would be an advantage.
Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to adapt to different audiences. Confidence in using spreadsheets and Learning Management Systems – LMS (training provided if needed). Willingness to learn technical processes and equipment and share knowledge effectively. A Level 3 qualification in Learning and Development qualification (or willingness to work towards it).
