PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
This role supports and optimises the international distribution network through accurate analysis, performance reporting, and operational insight. The International Distribution Analyst identifies opportunities to improve efficiency, cost, compliance, and the movement of goods across international markets.
Supporting the International Department’s growth ambitions, the role models route-to-market options, assesses new-market feasibility, develops supply chain reporting, and evaluates Sales Based Ordering (SBO) opportunities with key customers. Through cross-functional collaboration, the analyst drives continuous improvement and contributes to reliable, compliant, and profitable distribution operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Logistics Planning and Performance
- Support the development and execution of international distribution plans through data analysis, reporting, and operational insight.
- Monitor the performance of third-party logistics providers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers, escalating issues where required.
- Report on key KPIs and challenge performance, targets, and underlying assumptions to drive operational excellence.
- Provide distribution insight to procurement, warehousing, supply chain, and retail teams to support forecasting and demand planning.
Cost and Network Optimisation
- Analyse transportation costs, lead times, container utilisation, and regional inventory levels to identify efficiency opportunities.
- Identify operational bottlenecks and recommend improvements to efficiency, resilience, and sustainability.
- Monitor geopolitical, environmental, and operational factors that could affect logistics performance.
- Evaluate cost-reduction and efficiency initiatives across existing international markets.
Partner and Supplier Management
- Provide data and dashboard reporting to regional logistics partners to support performance reviews and improvement plans.
- Work with UK suppliers to assess direct-to-market delivery models and quantify potential cost and efficiency benefits.
- Support the partnership with Edge Worldwide through logistics reporting, performance tracking, and identification of new revenue opportunities.
Depot Operations and Compliance
- Analyse and optimise Depot 80 operations, focusing on availability, cost control, and the efficient flow of goods.
- Track product range availability at Depot 80 and support compliance with NFEU and export labelling requirements.
- Investigate depot discrepancies by reviewing data, identifying root causes, and supporting corrective actions.
International Growth and Market Development
- Support international growth plans through analysis of new markets, route-to-market options, and feasibility assessments.
- Model alternative logistics and delivery solutions to support scalable, cost-effective market entry.
- Translate logistics findings into clear recommendations for International and Partnerships stakeholders.
Data, Systems and Commercial Insight
- Develop and enhance supply chain reporting to improve visibility of operational and logistics performance.
- Maintain accurate dashboards and translate complex data into clear, actionable insight.
- Analyse opportunities to integrate Sales Based Ordering (SBO) models with key customers.
- Provide data-driven insight to support commercial discussions and identify logistics-related revenue opportunities.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Proficient use of all Microsoft applications
- Previous experience of working in Supply Chain is desirable
- Strong communicator both verbally and written
- Ability to build relationships at all levels
- Good attention to detail
- Sense of urgency and pace in managing their workload
- Proactive approach in dealing with problems and queries in a busy and fast paced environment
