Job Specification
Hours
Part-time – approximately 15–20 hours per week, worked across 3 or 4 days. Flexible working hours can be agreed.
Salary
Circa £30,000 per annum (pro rata), depending on experience and contracted hours.
Role Overview
We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Payroll & Accounts Assistant to support our Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with payroll and accounting experience who enjoys working in a varied role, supporting payroll, purchase ledger, sales ledger and general administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll
- Process the weekly payroll accurately and within required deadlines.
- Ensure payroll records are maintained and updated.
- Assist with payroll-related queries where required.
Purchase Ledger
- Input supplier invoices accurately into the accounting system.
- Reconcile supplier statements.
- Liaise with suppliers regarding payment dates and account queries.
- Support the wider Purchase Ledger function as required.
Sales Ledger
- Assist with debtor analysis and reporting.
- Support credit control and debt recovery activities.
- Maintain accurate customer account records.
Administration
- Scan and file Proofs of Delivery (PODs).
- Maintain electronic filing systems.
- Provide general administrative support to the Finance department.
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role.
Person Specification
Essential
- Previous experience in payroll processing.
- Experience working within a finance or accounts environment.
- Knowledge of Purchase Ledger and Sales Ledger processes.
- Strong numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
- Excellent communication skills.
Desirable
- Experience with payroll software.
- Knowledge of accounting software.
- Experience within a distribution or logistics environment.
