The post holder will be responsible for supporting the management and delivery of training & education, supporting the SWTN governance process and managing the nursing component whilst promoting positive working relationships for the South Wales Trauma Network (SWTN) programme. The Network includes all providers of trauma care including pre-hospital care, hospital and rehabilitation services. The Network will collaborate to ensure consistency in standards of care driven by agreed policies, protocols and procedures applied across the Network, and the involvement of all Network members in a programme of continuous quality improvement informed by consistent clinical data captured through NMTR and other appropriate audit and clinical governance mechanisms.
The SWTN nurse educator will develop and deliver a high-profile education & training programme alongside the SWTN training and education clinical lead to transform the delivery of trauma care across the region with all key stakeholders.

his is a senior, visible leadership role within the South Wales Trauma Network, supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred trauma services across the region. The post holder will work as part of the Operational Delivery Network (ODN) leadership team, contributing to the effective day-to-day running of the network and leading on key areas of service delivery, improvement and education across the Network.
You will collaborate closely with clinical teams, Health Boards, and wider stakeholders to ensure services are delivered safely, consistently, and in line with agreed standards and strategic priorities. Acting as a deputy to the Network Manager when required, you will play a key role in driving forward network initiatives, managing projects, and embedding best practice across organisations.
A strong focus of the role is on quality, safety, and continuous improvement . You will lead and support service improvement programmes, challenge existing practices, and promote evidence-based care to enhance patient outcomes and experience. This includes overseeing clinical governance processes, supporting performance monitoring, and ensuring learning from feedback, incidents, and audits is translated into meaningful change.

The successful candidate will provide direct leadership to ensure staff across the SWTN are able to implement the nursing and quality strategy and person-centred approaches to care, in order to deliver a service that prioritises the care needs of patients and their families/carers to enable a positive experience. The post holder is expected to work with autonomy to provide highly specialised professional nursing advice to colleagues to ensure high standards of direct care delivery.
The role also involves providing professional and clinical leadership , acting as a visible and approachable resource for staff across the network. You will model compassionate, person-centred care, support workforce development, and uphold the highest professional standards, including equality, diversity, inclusion, and information governance.
Education and development are central to the post. You will lead on the design and delivery of specialist training and learning programmes, working with partners across NHS Wales and education providers to build capability, support career development, and ensure the workforce is skilled to meet the needs of major trauma patients.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills are essential. You will engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams, partner organisations, and patient groups, supporting collaboration, consultation, and shared decision-making across the network.
