Salary: PO 5 / 6 - £45,765 - £50,949

Hours: 37 hours per week

Are you an experienced Occupational Health Nurse looking for an opportunity to lead, influence and make a real difference to employee wellbeing?

We are seeking a Lead Occupational Health Nurse Advisor to join our Wellbeing Team, playing a pivotal role in supporting the health, wellbeing and resilience of our workforce. This is an exciting opportunity to combine clinical expertise with leadership responsibilities, helping to shape and deliver a proactive, evidence-based Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service.

The Role

As the Lead Occupational Health Nurse Advisor, you will provide professional clinical leadership within a multidisciplinary wellbeing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality occupational health services that promote and maintain the physical, mental and social wellbeing of our employees.

Working within a robust clinical governance framework, you will manage a varied caseload, providing specialist advice on fitness for work, attendance management, health surveillance, vaccinations and workplace wellbeing initiatives. You will act as a trusted advisor to managers, employees and key stakeholders, supporting informed decision-making and positive health outcomes across the organisation.

You will also contribute to the development of policies, wellbeing programmes and health promotion activities, while supporting and mentoring colleagues to ensure the continued delivery of an outstanding service.

Key Responsibilities

Manage a varied Occupational Health caseload, ensuring service standards and deadlines are met.
Undertake occupational health assessments, including sickness absence, fitness for work and return-to-work consultations.
Conduct pre-employment health screening, including drug testing, audiometry, vision and spirometry assessments.
Lead vaccination clinics and administer immunisations in line with clinical protocols.
Deliver health surveillance programmes in accordance with legislative and national standards.
Provide expert, evidence-based advice to managers and HR colleagues on occupational health matters.
Support attendance management and employee wellbeing initiatives across the organisation.
Develop and deliver health promotion campaigns, training sessions and presentations.
Contribute to service improvement projects and the ongoing development of wellbeing policies and procedures.
Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to Occupational Health team members.
Build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support organisational wellbeing objectives.

What We're Looking For

Registered General Nurse (Level 1) with a current NMC PIN and evidence of ongoing CPD/NMC revalidation.
Specialist Occupational Health qualification.
Significant Occupational Health experience, including:
- Fitness for work assessments.
- Pre-employment health screening.
- Health surveillance programmes.
Competence in:
- Venepuncture.
- Vaccine administration and cold chain management.
- Audiometry, vision screening and spirometry.
Experience of managing and supporting teams or individuals.
Strong report writing skills, including complex Occupational Health reports and recommendations.
Ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and make sound clinical decisions.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and electronic record systems.
Ability to travel throughout the Cleveland Police force area.
