Mitie Care & Custody Training team are an integral part of Learning and Development, proudly supporting the Mitie Care & Custody Senior Leadership Team in their objective to ensure new and existing colleagues are appropriately trained to fulfil their role and developed to their full potential.
£44,400 Per annum
42hrs per week working Monday to Friday, however some hours outside of this are required at times.
25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays
This is a National role with extensive travel across the UK, Mileage will be reimbursed at 25ppm
Your primary responsibility will be to prepare, coordinate, and deliver specialist custody-related health and welfare training for healthcare professionals and detention officers working within police custody and forensic medicine settings. This may include, but is not limited to, providing training, clinical supervision, mentorship, competency assessment development, and supporting the ongoing development of clinical and forensic skills and knowledge across custody detention and forensic medicine.
You will ensure all electronic learning systems, including the Learning Management System (LMS) and Comaea (the electronic competency platform), are kept up to date, accurately maintained, and routinely monitored to support quality, consistency, and compliance across training delivery.
You will also be expected to work with, implement, and support technology-enhanced learning tools, such as immersive and virtual reality, to enhance learner engagement, skills development, and training outcomes.
You will work as part of an integrated team with the Medical Director, Clinical Directors, Governance and Development team, Clinical Leads, and Contract Managers to ensure services are delivered to the required standards, in accordance with the specific needs of the Company, and that Mitie C&C processes comply with national training and clinical governance standards.
The post holder will be required to provide training and support workflow requirements as directed by the Police Services Education and Training Lead, where necessary, based on identified needs assessments. They will also be expected to maintain Immediate Life Support (ILS) Instructor status and support the delivery of first aid and trauma-informed training across the service.
The post holder will also be responsible for coordinating and delivering university-accredited courses, ensuring that all teaching, assessment, learner support, documentation, and quality assurance processes meet the required standards set by both the University and Mitie.
As an experienced healthcare professional (HCP), you will be expected to work autonomously and have the clinical skills, knowledge, and confidence required to support clinical staff and custody staff in their roles.
Essential:
Full registration with the NMC as a Registered Nurse (Adult) or with the HCPC as a Paramedic.
- A minimum of two years' experience in a police forensic medicine environment
- Experience using competency frameworks, audit findings, incidents, complaints, or learning needs analysis to inform training design.
- Ability to quality assure training delivery and learner outcomes in line with internal governance, regulatory, and academic standards.
- IT skills, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook including the ability to use learning management systems and electronic competency platforms to monitor compliance, progress, and training quality.
- Confident in delivering training to mixed professional groups, including healthcare professionals, custody staff, and operational teams.
- National Police vetting is required as well as an enhanced DBS check
- Have been continuously resident in the UK for at least 12 months and must have legal status to remain the UK
- A full UK driving licence
- Competent in oral and written English
Desirable:
- Previous line management and/or mentorship experience, including supporting clinical competency assessment, supervised practice, mentorship, and learner progression.
- Technology enhanced education experience
- Mentorship, education, and/or training qualification, or willingness to work towards one.
- Experience developing, reviewing, and updating clinical education materials, lesson plans, competencies, and assessment documentation.
- Experience working with university-accredited programmes or higher education partners.
- ILS Instructor, First Aid Instructor, or trauma-informed training experience.
- Experience in simulation-based training, scenario design, OSCEs, or skills-based assessment.
- Experience contributing to curriculum development, course validation, or quality assurance processes.
