Full job description

Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of a client for a Safeguarding Adviser to join a dedicated safeguarding team. This role is responsible for supporting safeguarding practice across a large and complex organisation, ensuring the protection of children, young people, and vulnerable adults in line with UK legislation and national safeguarding guidance.

Key Responsibilities

Casework

Respond to safeguarding concerns and allegations, working closely with statutory agencies.
Provide professional advice on safeguarding matters to internal stakeholders and partner organisations.
Manage safeguarding cases in line with legislation, policy, and recognised best practice.
Undertake risk assessments and contribute to risk management planning.
Attend and contribute to multi-agency meetings (e.g. case conferences, strategy meetings).
Ensure appropriate support is provided to all parties involved in safeguarding cases.
Maintain accurate, confidential records and ensure compliance with reporting requirements, including referrals where appropriate.

General Responsibilities

Build effective relationships with internal stakeholders and external agencies.
Promote safeguarding awareness and best practice across the organisation.
Contribute to policy development, safeguarding initiatives, and continuous improvement.
Provide advice on safer recruitment practices, including DBS processes.
Deliver or support safeguarding training where required.

Person Specification

Essential

Relevant professional qualification (e.g. social work or related discipline) or equivalent experience.
Significant experience in safeguarding children and/or adults, including case management.
Experience working with statutory and non-statutory agencies in safeguarding contexts.
Strong knowledge of UK safeguarding legislation, policy, and procedures.
Experience of risk assessment and risk management, including multi-agency working (e.g. MAPPA, MARAC).
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear reports and maintain accurate records.
Ability to manage a varied workload in a fast-paced environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work sensitively with vulnerable individuals.

Desirable

Experience working within a faith-based or community organisation.
Understanding of safeguarding within complex organisational structures.

Additional Requirements

Enhanced DBS check required.
