Due to the nature of work that Sonic Healthcare UK undertakes, our clients require that Employees filling certain roles, need, as part of their on-boarding to complete a DBS Check. This role falls in to the category of requiring a DBS check (standard)
About the role:
A vacancy has arisen for a bank position for a HCPC registered Biomedical Scientist in our Haematology and Blood Department based at the North Middlesex University Hospital.
The department is a 24/7 rapid response laboratory, consisting of XN-9000, two CS-2500, two Tosoh G11s, SP-10 and RAL Stainer, blood film reporting, and Glandular Fever screening and Rapid Malaria testing. Blood Transfusion duties will include automated grouping, antibody investigation, cross-matching, NHSBT referrals and providing blood component support for Major Haemorrhages. In addition, the post holder will ensure to comply with health and safety; training and development; and all quality aspects of the laboratory (including but not limited to EQAs, audits and incident reporting).
The ideal candidate will have experience in providing a comprehensive, high quality laboratory service. The Biomedical Scientist must use a combination of knowledge, decision making and organisational skills to ensure that the appropriate testing is performed safely, to produce accurate results to our users and in a timely manner. The role involves working in the Haematology and Blood Transfusion departments within the Rapid Response Laboratory as directed by the Head of Haematology and the Head of Blood Transfusion, working in collaboration with other Biomedical Scientists, Associate Practitioner and Medical laboratory Assistants and senior scientific staff, in providing an efficient and effective service and to ensure the maintenance of scientific standards of HSL.
The successful candidate should have current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
