About the Role
We're looking for a skilled Production Carpenter Assistant to join us on a flexible, zero-hours basis to help produce our orders. This is a hands-on production role - working with solid timber every day, cutting, machining and finishing made-to-order hardwood planks and panels at pace, while maintaining a high standard of quality throughout.
You'll play a key role in keeping the workshop running smoothly and ensuring every piece that leaves the door meets our standards. If you love working with your hands, being productive, and seeing finished products go out the door every day, you'll fit right in.
What You'll Be Doing
- Production: cutting planks and panels accurately and efficiently to order specifications.
- Material Picking: selecting material to match order requirements while minimising waste.
- Finishing: sanding, routing and drilling using belt sander, spindle moulder and other workshop machinery.
- Quality Control: completing final checks on finished pieces and making adjustments before fulfilment.
- Workshop Maintenance: keeping the workspace clean, safe and well organised.
- Equipment Maintenance: carrying out routine maintenance on machines, including blade changes.
What You'll Need
- Some experience in a woodworking or carpentry workshop environment.
- Comfortable working at pace while maintaining quality and accuracy.
- Practical, hands-on and proactive with a common sense approach.
- Takes pride in a clean, organised workspace.
- Good communication and ability to keep the team updated on progress.
Good to Know
- This role is zero-hours and based at our workshop in Camberwell, SE5
- Hours are typically Monday-Wednesday, 9-5, with availability to flex as the business grows
- Pay is above the London Living Wage, dependent on experience - looking to start someone as soon as possible
