About us

Freedown Food is a well-established importer and wholesaler of exceptional meat with outstanding taste. We are looking for a passionate, enthusiastic, driven, and motivated individual to join our Butchery team.

Role Summary

The job will require working as part of a small team. Butchery in Western style and in Asian/Japanese style requiring fine slicing to a very high standard.

Working hours: 5:00-15:00 Mon-Fri (1 hour lunch break)
Salary: 25,000-35,000 per annum, based on experience
Contract type: Full time / Permanent
Butchery based: Battersea, SW8
Company office based: Battersea, SW8

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Weigh, label, and price a variety of cuts of meat for on-demand selections.
Prepare meat into forms ready for cooking using a variety of actions, including boning, tying, grinding, cutting, and trimming.
Clean equipment and work areas to maintain health and sanitation standards.
Store meats in refrigerators or freezers at the required temperature.
Weigh, wrap, label, and store products.
Receive, inspect, and store meat upon delivery.
Completed production sheets daily.
Sharpen and adjust cutting equipment.

Requirements:

Essential:

Great attention to detail
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in a team
Willingness to learn
Knowledge of food safety
Ability to complete all tasks to an exceptionally high standard

Desired:

Previous experience in butchery or possibly kitchen if detailed meat preparation was required.

Training will be provided to the suitable candidate.

Salary will be based on experience which will be discussed at the interview stage if successful.
