The UCL Centre for Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry (CRC) is a leading multidisciplinary research centre for the development and clinical translation of novel biomedical imaging agents (https://www.ucl.ac.uk/medical-sciences/divisions/medicine/research/radiochemistry).
The CRC specialises in the manufacture of radiotracers for imaging with positron emission tomography (PET). Using our two labs, the UCL GMP Facility and the associated Radiochemistry Research Lab, we not only supply radiotracers for use in the clinic, but also develop new imaging agents and strategies, and define the scope of clinical applications for new and existing radiotracers.
The Chemistry Department at University College London is the oldest in England and today is one of the best in the UK, ranked 3rd in the UK for research excellence in REF (2021). University College London (UCL) invites applications for a Research Fellow to join Dr Kerstin Sander’s team at the Centre for Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry. This role offers a unique opportunity to work towards the delivery of a clinical Phase 2 trial of a diagnostic imaging agent in a multidisciplinary environment. With their work, the successful candidate will provide the essential 'ground truth' to validate clinical utility of the novel imaging agent. Practical work will focus on the pathological characterization of specimens using immunohistochemistry-based tissue staining techniques. The precision of the novel diagnostic agent by correlating the identified microscopic disease patterns with imaging data.
The three-year position, funded by the Medical Research Council, is available immediately.
The successful candidate will join Dr Kerstin Sander at the UCL Centre for Radiopharmaceutical Chemistry, working alongside a multidisciplinary team of clinical and basic scientists. This role focuses on characterising surgical specimens through histology and immunohistochemical staining to correlate tissue biomarkers with diagnostic imaging results from positron emission tomography (PET) scans taken with [18F]AldoView.
We are seeking candidates with a background in pharmacology, experience in pathology and a strong interest in translational imaging, who are self-motivated, able to work independently, and have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. The candidate will be expected to work in close collaboration with the current team members at UCL and partner institutions.
