As an Assistant Director you will be delivering strategy work for our clients day-to-day. While no two projects are the same, you will typically be responsible for managing an engagement end-to-end, acting as the being seen as a trusted advisor and key point of contact to our clients. You will be the key point of review on all deliverables, setting approach direction and driving the project forward. You will build trust with internal and external stakeholders a trusted advisor. In addition, you will be responsible for driving business development outside of your primary engagement, bringing the whole of the broad capability of Deloitte in support of our clients’ objectives. Beyond client work, you will act as a leader within the insurance strategy team and broader practice, driving initiatives to develop the capability and culture of business. You will be a coach and mentor to junior team members, supporting their wellbeing, and create a culture that draws strength from diversity and inclusion.
Client engagements are predominantly with organisations facing important, often profound, transitions. Engagements are typically driven by CEOs, business unit leaders, and other members of the senior management team. Client engagements may be as short as a few months, but can also evolve into multi-year, wide-ranging and transformative relationships. We not only bring our clients the insight and unconventional thinking that help them form strategies to anticipate disruption and respond to change - we also use our experience and knowledge to help them bring those strategies to life.

As an Assistant Director your responsibilities will include:

Delivery of high-quality outputs to the client to articulate strategy, drives understanding and buy-in from stakeholders.

Leadership: Provides a direction and vision for engagements, guiding the team in structuring analysis, and independently leading engagements from scoping through delivery.

Tools, Skills & Frameworks: Maintains expert knowledge and innovates in the use of data, tools & frameworks and uses this to lead the team to find appropriate analytical approaches to solving client problems.

Relationship Management: Working closely with clients and internal stakeholders, developing strong professional relationships based on trusted advice and leading teams to deliver a seamless client experience.

Analysis & Insights: Designing and leading execution of rigorous and insightful analysis to build an evidence base to support strategy development and change.

Team Management: Sets objectives for team members, supporting them in developing against their objectives, fostering a team environment that builds accountability and commitment.

Communication: Mastery of communication, demonstrating critical thinking and concise structuring / hypothesis-based storytelling.

Practice Development: Takes on leading roles within the practice, managing time and resources to ensure the right level of input into practice development initiatives in parallel to client delivery.

Business Development: Taking an ownership role in the management of the practice and business development.

Continuous Learning: Proactively identifies relevant business trends, economic forces, and industry practices - developing perspectives and points of view that build credibility in the market.

To be successful in the role, candidates should bring strong strategy skills and experience in management consulting. As this role focuses on the non-life insurance sector, candidates should demonstrate a background in financial services (or equivalent) and a desire to progress a career in insurance.
As an Assistant Director, you must have:

A strong academic record, an undergraduate degree or equivalent.

Proven direct experience in strategy consulting in the Life Sciences & Healthcare industry with a consulting firm, or as part of an in-house strategy, corporate development or transformation team.

Proven track record of establishing, inspiring and leading teams through complex engagements to successfully deliver strategic initiatives within an organisation.
-
Ability to construct and evidence and articulate strategic arguments, with creativity in identifying evidence sources and the ability to leverage your experience for client peer comparison.

An expert understanding of the Life Sciences & Healthcare and its dynamics, with a track record of successful execution in the industry.

Ability to work independently and be a self-starter.

Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
-
Exceptional time management skills to manage competing priorities, across client service, practice development, and business development responsibilities.

Proven ability to scope, design and deliver the full cycle of project management accountabilities.

Experience with problem diagnosis, solution development, client communications, decision-making facilitation, documentation, stakeholder management, project profitability, and team leadership.
