About the Department
Songwriter Services’ primary aim is to protect and grow SMP’s iconic catalogue. It is responsible for all writers and catalogues not on the "Frontline" A&R Roster. Songwriter Services supports our writers by maintaining strong writer relationships, maximising opportunities from the writers’ songs and providing creative support. Songwriter Services also helps our writers (or their management teams) to navigate the company's resources on an international basis in all areas.
About the Role
The salary stated is the maximum salary available for this role. The actual salary will be based on the successful candidate’s age and the relevant National Living Wage rate.
The key aim of the Apprentice, Songwriter Services role is to support the team with day-to-day administrative and creative tasks, helping to ensure the smooth running of activities across the team. The role provides an opportunity to learn how writer relationships are managed, how catalogues are organised, and how opportunities are delivered to support songwriters. With guidance from the VP and Senior Manager, the apprentice will contribute to maintaining accurate information, supporting team projects, supporting key songwriter relationships and delivering high-quality work. The apprentice will support the team to grow SMP’s catalogue keeping creators at the heart of what we do.
What You’ll Do
- Provide day-to-day administrative support to the Songwriter Services team, including scheduling meetings, managing diaries and coordinating communications
- Support the organisation of writer and catalogue information, ensuring records, files and databases are accurate and up to date
- Assist in creating and updating content and materials for internal and external use (e.g. presentations, updates, pitch decks)
- Create and edit digital content for internal and external channels
- Help coordinate team projects and activities and supporting delivery against deadlines
- Build positive working relationships with colleagues and partners, contributing to a collaborative team environment
- Participate in team meetings on an as required basis
- Support the team in maximising opportunities for writers, including basic research and information gathering
- Take ownership of allocated tasks, managing priorities and delivering to agreed timelines
- Contributing ideas to the team
- Demonstrate professionalism and attention to detail in all tasks, contributing to high-quality outputs

- Interest in music, media or creative industries, with an understanding of supporting creators

- Comfortable using Microsoft Office 365 Suite of applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proficient in using social media platforms (e.g. Instagram, X, Facebook)
- Familiar using digital content applications e.g. Canva, Adobe Express or similar
- Genuine interest in media, content or communications
- Prior work experience not essential; relevant school/college projects, volunteering, teamwork, or creative interests are beneficial.

Entry requirements
Maths and English GCSE or equivalent at grade C/4 or above.
Training to be provided
Business Administration Level 3 Standard
Apprentices learn the skills they need on the job with the guidance of a development coach who is an expert from industry. You will finish your apprenticeship with a recognised qualification, valuable industry experience, money, and substantial opportunities for promotion.
