Team overview
Ashurst Reach is the firm's dedicated flexible legal resourcing platform which provides the firm and its clients with access to a high quality talent pool of consultant lawyers and paralegals. We understand that our clients need access to highly qualified lawyers, project managers and paralegals, often at short notice and/or for short periods, whether that be to meet internal demands, backfill leave, provide cover during recruitment or to assist with projects. Essential skills and experience
We are currently looking for a experienced privacy lawyer to join an in-house legal team, advising the business on strategic priorities with a specialist focus on data protection and privacy matters.
The Role
- Work as a trusted business partner within a collaborative in-house legal function, building strong relationships with senior leaders and key internal stakeholders
- Provide expert advice on all aspects of the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and the Data Protection Act 2018, including data protection impact assessments and data subject rights
- Advise on marketing-related privacy matters, including the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2013, AdTech, and cookies
- Support the implementation of complex initiatives such as Generative AI from a data protection perspective
- Advise on data protection aspects of commercial contracts, including SaaS and other technology agreements
Skills and Experience
- Experience at a leading law firm and/or in-house, ideally within the insurance, technology, digital, FinTech, or financial services sector
- Proven technical expertise in advising on complex privacy issues
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds
Qualifications
- Qualified solicitor or barrister entitled to practise in the UK with sufficient PQE
- Strong understanding of data protection, marketing, and digital-related law
