Strategy and Communications

Strategy and Communications sits at the centre of the organisation, bringing together several teams with organisation-wide remits and mutual collaboration opportunities. The work of the directorate’s teams includes delivery of major events, designing and leading public affairs or marketing campaigns, providing data, evidence and analysis, leading cross-organisational programmes, to making sure we plan for and can respond to emerging events or emergencies in our city.

About the team

EURO 2028 sits within the GLA Major Sport Events Team

About the role

Provide highly organised, proactive and forward-looking project and administrative support to the GLA’s UEFA EURO 2028 Core Team across a range of areas including: city operations, stakeholder management, fan festivals, social impact and volunteering.

Provide secretariat support to the GLA’s governance structure, working groups, project lead and senior managers where required.

Act as a central coordination point for corporate tasks including internal project reporting, freedom of Information requests and correspondence to the Mayor and GLA officials.

What your day will look like

Support the EURO 2028 Core Team where required including with administration, events and meetings, stakeholder visits, effective project systems and tools and wider EURO team cohesion and organisation.

Diary and administrative support to the Project Lead and Senior Managers, EURO 2028 team.

Track, monitor and manage project actions against targets, take ownership and management of project issues; undertake follow-up or remedial actions when required.

Arrange meetings, including finding suitable dates, booking rooms and ordering catering or equipment. Ensure all meetings are outcome-focused, with high-quality agendas and clear actions (owners and deadlines). Circulate meeting documentation such as agendas, minutes and presentations and follow up on agreed actions to drive accountability as required.

Liaise with stakeholders including London Boroughs, London Sport, UEFA and The FA and other key partners and maintain excellent working relationships.

Co-ordinate, manage and plan consultation and stakeholder events, and communications activities.

Support the EURO 2028 Business Manager as required to assist with procurement and financial processes to ensure that payments are made in a timely manner.

Skills, knowledge and experience

To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:

Demonstrable experience of supporting project delivery.
Strong communication skills and experience of working to demanding deadlines and working with a range of stakeholders.
Experience of using Microsoft Office including Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel.
Experience of tracking actions, risks and dependencies across projects, using structured systems or tools.
Exceptional attention to detail and experience of proactively managing multiple priorities within a busy environment.
An understanding of operating in a politically sensitive environment and handling communications in this environment.

This role is based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL).

Benefits

GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.

Secondment Oppurtunity
