Mortgage underwritter/packager
Location: St Mellons, Cardiff
Salary: £30,000 per annum, increasing to £35,000 upon successful completion of probation and competency sign-off under our Training & Competence (T&C) Scheme.
On-Target Earnings (OTE): £50,000+ through our uncapped commission structure.

GoBear Loans is an FCA-authorised mortgage brokerage based in St Mellons, Cardiff, specialising in residential, buy-to-let, first charge, second charge, lifetime and commercial mortgages.
Due to continued growth, we're looking to recruit an experienced Specialist Mortgage Case Manager to join our team.
This is not a sales role. You'll take ownership of specialist mortgage applications from application through to completion, working closely with customers, lenders and professional partners to deliver outstanding customer outcomes.
What You'll Be Doing:
As a Specialist Mortgage Case Manager, you'll be responsible for managing a busy pipeline of specialist first charge, second charge, residential and buy-to-let mortgage applications.
Working closely with customers, lenders, Business Development Managers (BDMs), solicitors, surveyors and accountants, you'll proactively manage each case from application through to completion, ensuring applications progress efficiently, accurately and in line with lender criteria, company procedures and FCA requirements.
This is a fast-paced role suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving, building relationships and finding solutions to keep applications moving.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a high-volume pipeline of specialist mortgage applications from application through to completion.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with lenders, Business Development Managers (BDMs), solicitors, surveyors, accountants and other third parties.
- Proactively identify and resolve issues that could delay applications.
- Think outside the box to find suitable lending solutions whilst maintaining compliance and delivering good customer outcomes.
- Package applications accurately, ensuring all supporting documentation has been fully reviewed before submission.
- Maintain regular communication with customers and all interested parties throughout the application process.
- Keep CRM systems, customer records and internal systems accurate and up to date.
- Work closely with Advisers, Directors, Compliance and Administration teams.
- Keep up to date with lender criteria, product changes and FCA regulatory requirements.
- Prioritise and manage a busy workload to consistently meet service standards and deadlines.
About You
We're looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced specialist mortgage environment and takes pride in progressing cases efficiently.
You'll have:
- A minimum of 2 years' experience managing or packaging specialist mortgage applications within a mortgage brokerage, lender or specialist lending environment.
- CeMAP qualification (essential).
- Experience packaging first charge, second charge or other specialist mortgage applications would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- The ability to manage a high-volume workload whilst maintaining exceptional quality.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach with the confidence to think outside the box.
- Excellent knowledge of mortgage application processes and lender criteria.
- Strong relationship-building skills.
- Excellent organisational, prioritisation and communication skills.
- A commitment to delivering outstanding customer outcomes whilst maintaining the highest standards of compliance.

Hybrid Working
This role is office-based during your training, probation period and until you have been signed off as competent under our Training & Competence (T&C) Scheme.
Once you have successfully completed your probation and achieved competency sign-off, you'll have the flexibility to work on a hybrid basis, combining home and office working. If you prefer to remain office-based, you're more than welcome to do so.
