Full job description

Do you want a career where you make a difference to children's lives? Are you passionate about childcare? We want to help you start your career in early years as an apprentice.

Brief overview

You will be taught how to care for the children and support all aspects of their learning and development.

The role will involve nappy changing, feeding and helping older children to feed themselves.

Children play inside and outside with open-ended toys so you will need to like being outdoors. Including taking part in our forest school sessions.

To play with children and join in with their imaginative games.

Sing and dance with children or sometimes sit quietly and read a story.

Full vacancy description

Your day to day responsibilities in this role will include:

Supported supervision of children aged 0-5.
Supervising and monitoring the safety of the children.
Feeding and changing the children, as needed.
Planning day to day activities.
Building strong relationships with parents.
Keeping records of children’s progress, routines, and interests.

Desired Skills

Good communication skills
Ability to communicate on a variety of levels; between parents, children and colleagues
Awareness of safeguarding
Willingness to learn

Genuine desire to work in the children sector
Have a good sense of humour
Ability to work under pressure

Desired qualifications

Ideally A* - C in Maths and English or equivalent

The role involves working in line with policies and procedures and learning a high level of safeguarding and health and safety knowledge.

Things to consider

The working day can be long

We are a forest school settings and a love of the outdoors in all weather is very important

Need to study on days off

Need to attend staff meetings/training in the evening and maybe a weekend
