- Logistics Operative

- £17.40 per hour (Overtime £22.62 p/h)
London Gateway provides a variety of value-added services to customers including transport management options at London Gateway. Main objectives will be delivering/collecting containers from the Port to the various customer warehouse facilities on the adjacent Logistics Park and Empty Depots situated on the London Gateway estate.
Part of a dedicated team with 24 hour operational support, together with being a part of the Road Access Development Team who plan and manage the execution of the day to day transportation services.
Other responsibilities include the yard management of individual customer facilities including working closely with customer’s warehouse teams, updating yard files, shunting trailers / containers within the yard and loading bays.
Health and Safety is number one priority and full training on equipment, equipment checks, refuelling, collecting/delivering containers on the Port, customer facilities and customer yards is supplied, together with regular refresher training.

Role requirements
Key responsibilities:
· Perform pre-use inspection of yard tug and trailer to ensure safe operation of equipment and report any defects/faults immediately
· Always follow health and safety operating procedures
· Follow planned execution of jobs and report any issues immediately via pre-arranged communication
· Collect and deliver planned containers to and from the Port and customer warehouse facilities situated on the London Gateway estate following the health and safety procedures in place and in an efficient manner
· Provide excellent customer service and build customer relationships and understand individual customer key priorities
· Build and maintain excellent working relationships with internal departments
· Keeping up to date with current Port Operations to assist customers with information/updates

Hours and shift
London Gateway Transport Management Service provides 24-hour cover and candidates will be required to undertake shift work.
Requirements
· Full UK Driving license
· HGV Class 1 license (Essential)
· Flexible approach to working patterns (days/nights/weekends).
· Competent safe approach to health and safety
· Passion for delivering customer service to the highest standard
· Good communication skills
· Comprehensive training programme and continual development.
· Prior experience within the logistics / warehouse environment beneficial but not essential
Experience and Technical Knowledge:
- Prior experience working in Logistics would be beneficial but not essential
- Ability to demonstrate urgency and willingness to learn
- Evidence of the ability to communicate and work with internal and external persons at all levels is essential
- The candidate must demonstrate an excellent understanding of what it means to be a member of a team in a dynamic and fast changing environment
