Full job description

Site Investigation Technician

Location: Field Based / Billericay
Salary: : £29,742 - £33,557 (DOE)
Contract: Full Time

We are currently looking for a Site Investigation Technician to join a growing team supporting a variety of ground investigation and environmental projects across the UK.

This is a hands-on field-based role involving soil, rock, and groundwater investigations to support construction, engineering, and environmental projects. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers, geologists, and site teams to deliver high-quality site investigation services safely and efficiently.

Key ResponsibilitiesFieldwork & Sampling

Carry out site investigations including soil, rock, and groundwater sampling
Assist with drilling operations, trial pits, and borehole logging
Operate and maintain site investigation equipment and testing kits
Conduct in-situ testing including soil density and permeability testing
Support CCTV surveys and monitoring activities

Data Collection & Reporting

Accurately record field data, measurements, and site logs
Prepare site notes, sketches, and reports
Ensure samples are correctly labelled and transported
Support engineers and geologists with site data collection

Health & Safety

Follow all site health & safety procedures and risk assessments
Ensure compliance with environmental and company standards
Correctly use PPE and maintain safe working practices
Report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly

Equipment & Team Support

Maintain and calibrate equipment and tools
Assist with site setup and demobilisation
Work collaboratively with engineers, supervisors, and contractors
Support project delivery to agreed deadlines and quality standards

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience within site investigation, construction, groundworks, or a similar field-based environment
Good attention to detail and record-keeping skills
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Good understanding of health & safety procedures
Reliable, organised, and proactive approach to work

Essential Requirements

Full UK driving licence
Willingness to travel to various site locations
Ability to carry out physical/manual work

Desirable

CSCS card
Experience with trial pits, boreholes, or soil sampling
CCTV survey or monitoring experience
Relevant qualifications in Geology, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Science

Pay: £29,742.00-£33,557.00 per year
