Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Receptionist to join our team. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact for our clients and their beloved pets, providing exceptional customer service while ensuring the smooth operation of our veterinary practice. Your ability to communicate effectively and handle multiple tasks will contribute significantly to the overall experience of our clients and their animals.
Responsibilities
- Greet clients and their pets warmly upon arrival, ensuring a friendly atmosphere.
- Schedule appointments and manage the booking system efficiently.
- Answer phone calls and respond to enquiries regarding services, treatments, and general care.
- Use electronic methods of communication efficiently.
- Maintain accurate patient records and update client information as necessary.
- Process payments and manage billing enquiries with professionalism.
- Assist with general administrative tasks.
- Ensure the reception area is organised, clean, and welcoming at all times.
- Handle client concerns with empathy and professionalism.
- Maintain product knowledge.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a veterinary or animal care environment is preferred but not essential; training will be provided.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a friendly demeanour.
- A strong work ethic, the ideal candidate will be reliable and punctual.
- A genuine love for animals and a commitment to providing high-quality service to clients.
- Proficiency in using computer systems for scheduling and record keeping.
- Educated to GCSE grade B/6 in English, Maths and IT.
Work Schedule
Permanent full time position available to average approximately 34 hours per week, providing a good work life balance.
The standard shift pattern will be to work a mixture of the below times (Monday - Friday):
- 08:00 – 14:15*
- 14:00 – 20:15*
This position also includes weekend work (one in four rotation) both Saturday and Sunday (in addition to usual hours worked Monday - Friday):
*in the event of emergencies you may be required to stay later
The ideal candidate will be flexible to the requirements of the surgery and able to provide cover for annual leave and absences when necessary.
