BioteCH4 are one of the leading AD operators in the UK, handling the collection and transportation of food waste, oils and fats recycling.
We own and operate a group of anaerobic digestion facilities across the UK. We also provide biological support, emergency response and feedstock supply to other operators within the industry. Our industry expertise means we not only have the knowledge and experience to deal with all the food waste the UK produces.
Our Changing Waste site is an industrial processor of waste located in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It is designed to handle a wide range of waste feedstocks. Through a variety of different processes that utilise the waste as a raw material to create a blend for anaerobic digestion, which in turn is used to generate electricity and gas that is 100% renewable and exported to the national grid.
Our R100 Energy and Holme Bioenergy sites are Yorkshire based, R100 has the capacity to process up to 90,000 metric tonnes of organic waste per year. with Holme Bioenergy capacity to process up to 80,000 metric tonnes of organic waste per year.
Summary
We are seeking an experienced Plant Supervisor to join our team in Spaldington, East Yorkshire.
Purpose of the role
The Plant Supervisor is accountable for the day-to-day operations on site for food waste and oil process with responsibility for managing employees, production and efficiency with the primary objective of maximising gas potential for R100 and Holme AD sites and managing the operations for maximising the oil process revenue stream. To ensure the plant is running smoothly, efficiently and safely 24/7.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Managing the daily operations ensuring that resources and support are adequately in place, that include 24/7 operational cover, to optimise the plants processing outputs with objective for maximising gas potential for R100 & Holme.
- Ensuring compliance with HSE, Environmental Permit, PAS 110, ABPR and ISCC procedures and guidelines and managing the regulatory visits where required
- Being the nominated COTC and to have in place adequate COTC cover during any PM absence.
- Controlling/managing costs to achieve budget goals for site
- Management and coordination of employees using, but not limited to 1:1s, operational team meetings, employee performance management and project meetings.
- Instigating and instructing the available resources for HR, Compliance, Finance, Process Health and Project Management from EnriCH4 Ltd.
- Ensuring group safety procedures are implemented and adhered to for employees, visitors and contractors.
- Ensuring adequate information, instruction, training and supervision is made and records of such are available.
- The role also gives responsibility of maintaining acceptable levels of hygiene and health and safety to site.

Individual competency & role requirements
- Proven experience in a supervisory/leadership role in biogas/AD, waste, renewable energy sectors or operational manufacturing industry is essential
- Strong health and safety focus and mindset
- Knowledge of the UK AD industry, or adjacent sectors (waste oils, feedstock supply, residual waste) would be advantageous
- High level of computer literacy – proficient use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Outlook, Sharepoint)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving ability
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and strong people management skills
- Self motivated individual with proactive approach
- Willingness to be responsive to site and operational needs outside of standard 'office hours'
- Relevant Waste Transfer Certification (COTC) essential (must be willing to work towards if certification is not already held)
- IOSH Working Safely essential; IOSH Managing Safely preferred
