About the Role
The Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly management accounts and the delivery of timely and accurate financial information and analysis to support decision making across the business.
Working closely with the Financial Controller, the role contributes to budgeting, project performance reporting, financial control activities and compliance requirements.
| KEY RESPONSIBILITIES |
- Prepare monthly management accounts including the reconciliation of all balance sheet accounts.
- Perform financial accounting activities including journal entries, profit and loss account reconciliations, financial analysis and audit preparation.
- Monitor, analyse and report on project performance, providing financial insight on costs, margins and profitability to support decision making.
- Support the preparation, administration and reporting of budgets, using Excel reporting tools.
- Conduct departmental reviews to include risk and opportunity reporting and budget reviews.
- Business Partnering with department managers to provide financial insight and support effective commercial decision-making.
- Responsible for daily bank administration including bank reconciliations, weekly and monthly payment processing and cash flow forecasting.
- Responsible for sales invoice processing, cash collection and liaising with clients.
- Support tax administration and compliance activities, ensuring accurate and timely submissions.
- Support grant applications and take responsibility for the preparation and submission of grant claims.
- Preparation of government statistical returns.
- Develop, recommend and implement process improvements
- Review procedures to achieve and maintain best practice.
- Development and maintain company templates using advanced MS Excel formulae
- Collaborate effectively with other departments.
- Support, mentor and develop finance apprentices, sharing knowledge and encouraging professional development.
- Any other duties which may be reasonably requested to fulfil the requirements of the position.
| QUALIFICATIONS |
Essential
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA or equivalent recognised qualification).
Desirable
- Relevant post qualification professional development.
| EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE |
Essential
- At least 2 years recent post-qualification experience within an industry-based finance role.
Desirable
- Experience within the construction, engineering, MEP or project-based contracting sector.
- Experience working with ROI and/or Dutch tax regulations, including VAT, payroll taxes and corporate tax requirements.
