Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and organised Activity Coordinator to join our team in providing engaging and meaningful activities for residents in a care home setting. The successful candidate will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for our residents, many of whom may require specialised dementia or Alzheimer's care. This position offers an opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of older adults through creative and tailored activities that promote socialisation, mental stimulation, and overall wellbeing.
Duties
- Plan, organise, and facilitate a variety of recreational activities tailored to residents' interests and needs, including arts and crafts, music sessions, games, and outings.
- Assess residents' individual preferences and abilities to develop personalised activity programmes that encourage participation.
- Support residents with dementia or Alzheimer's in engaging with activities in a respectful and caring manner.
- Collaborate with care staff to ensure activities align with residents' care plans and health requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of participation and residents’ responses to activities for ongoing assessment.
- Foster a warm, welcoming environment that encourages social interaction and emotional wellbeing among residents.
- Assist in organising special events or celebrations within the care home to promote community spirit.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, and team members to ensure activities meet individual needs and preferences.
Qualifications
- Previous experience working in assisted living or nursing home environments is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of senior care, including dementia and Alzheimer's care, is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to connect empathetically with older adults.
- Organised with excellent planning skills to develop diverse activity programmes.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in enhancing the lives of elderly residents.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Relevant caregiving or activity coordination qualifications are preferred but not essential; training can be provided for suitable candidates.
