Title: Social & Wellbeing Assistant
Location: Royston, Hertfordshire
Hours: Part-time (minimum 20 hours per week. Must be able to work some weekends)
Salary: £12.71 per hour, dependent on experience
As a Social & Wellbeing Assistant, you will play a key role in promoting the physical, emotional, social and psychological wellbeing of residents. You will support the delivery of a varied programme of meaningful, person-centred activities that encourage independence, choice, dignity and inclusion, whilst helping to create a warm, welcoming and engaging environment for residents, relatives and visitors.
You will work closely with residents, families and the wider care team to ensure activities reflect individual preferences, interests, abilities and life histories, enhancing each resident's quality of life.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Deliver a varied programme of meaningful, person-centred activities for individuals and groups.
- Encourage residents to participate in activities that promote independence, confidence, wellbeing and social inclusion.
- Build positive relationships with residents through meaningful conversation, companionship and engagement.
- Support residents to achieve personal goals and maintain hobbies and interests wherever possible.
- Ensure activities are tailored to residents' individual needs, preferences, cultural backgrounds and abilities in accordance with their care plans.
- Assist in assessing residents' social, emotional and recreational needs through observation, interaction and regular review.
- Support the planning, organisation and delivery of themed events, celebrations, entertainers and community activities.
- Assist with organising and supporting outings and external visits, ensuring appropriate risk assessments and supervision are in place.
- Welcome and support external entertainers, volunteers and visiting professionals.
- Promote residents' health and wellbeing by encouraging good nutrition, hydration and positive mealtime experiences where appropriate.
- Accurately document activities, resident participation, outcomes and observations in accordance with company procedures.
- Ensure activity equipment, resources and communal areas are maintained in a clean, safe and organised condition.
- Promote dignity, privacy, equality, diversity and inclusion in all aspects of the role.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times and comply with GDPR and organisational policies.
- Report safeguarding concerns, accidents, incidents or changes in residents' wellbeing promptly in accordance with company procedures.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across all departments to ensure residents receive high-quality, person-centred care.
- Maintain professional standards of appearance, behaviour and communication at all times.
- Attend mandatory training and participate in ongoing professional development.
- Comply with all Health & Safety, Infection Prevention & Control, COSHH, Fire Safety and organisational policies and procedures.
- Support compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards and other relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as reasonably requested by management.
