Employability Project Worker
Silx Teen Bar Youth Project in Blyth is looking to recruit an Employability Project worker to join our team. This is a 16 hour per week role (on Monday, Wednesday and Friday) working in our Employability drop-in sessions and providing administrative support to the Development Manager and senior staff.
You will be required to support young people aged 16-25 who are not in employment, education or training (NEET) in all aspects of employability. This role will involve practical support, including the following:
- CV writing
- Job search and application support
- Benefit advice guidance, and application support
- One to one support and intervention to reduce barriers to progression towards employment or training.
- Provide advice and guidance in areas including mental health, physical health, debt and money management, housing and any other issue personal to the individual young person.
- Knowledge of local support services and ability to effectively signpost to relevant support.
- Ability to advocate for young people in exchanges with benefit systems, utility companies or any other relevant agencies/support services.
- Ordering relevant training courses for young people and supporting administrative tasks regarding training delivery.
Essential Criteria
- Must have experience working with young people.
- A strong level of IT proficiency regarding employability skills, including CV and job searching, Microsoft Office and emails.
- Ability to develop a positive relationship with young people and motivate young people towards their goals.
- Ability to record activity and outcomes effectively.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Ability to be flexible when supporting the complex and changing needs of NEET young people.
Desirable Criteria
- A relevant qualification would be desirable but not essential, as the successful candidate will be provided with full training.
- A knowledge of local support services, education and training opportunities.
- Up to date knowledge of Universal Credit and the wider benefit system, including PIP.
- Up to date knowledge or training of safeguarding and data protection procedures.
Hours Of Work
Successful candidate will be required to work every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 10:00AM to 15:15PM.
