The Role
As a Customs Operator, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth movement of freight through customs processes while delivering exceptional service to our customers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completing import and export customs declarations.
- Ensuring compliance with HMRC and international customs regulations.
- Using customs software and operational systems accurately and efficiently.
- Resolving customs queries and supporting customers through the clearance process.
- Working closely with transport, customer service and operations teams.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and process development.
- Assisting with maintaining high compliance and audit standards.
What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Minimum 2 years' experience within a customs clearance or freight forwarding environment.
- Experience using customs systems and customs declaration platforms.
- Strong understanding of import and export procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and compliance focus.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.
Desirable:
- Experience with Thyme/Descartes or other customs platforms.
- Knowledge of UK, EU and Irish customs procedures.
- Understanding of transit documentation, T1/T2 movements and customs compliance requirements.
