A rare opportunity to shape governance, compliance and information governance at one of the UK's highest-performing sixth form colleges.
Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 (Dependant on Experience)
Bolton Sixth Form College is seeking to appoint an exceptional professional to lead and develop the College's governance, compliance and information governance functions.
This is a unique and influential role, providing independent advice and support to the Corporation, Chair of Governors and Principal, whilst ensuring the College meets its statutory, regulatory and compliance obligations.
As Clerk to the Corporation and Governance Professional, you will play a pivotal role in supporting effective governance and strategic decision-making. You will also act as the College's Data Protection Officer, oversee Freedom of Information and Subject Access Requests, lead the College's complaints management arrangements, oversee the College's policy management framework and provide assurance that the College remains compliant with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and best practice.
We are looking for an individual with significant experience of governance, compliance, data protection or information governance, together with excellent organisational, communication and relationship-building skills. Experience of supporting boards, governors, trustees or directors is essential. Knowledge of the further education or education sector would be advantageous.

We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience supporting governing bodies, boards or trustees.
- Can provide authoritative advice on governance, compliance and regulatory matters.
- Has knowledge of data protection legislation, information governance and compliance frameworks.
- Has experience of managing complaints, investigations, appeals processes or complex casework and can ensure matters are handled fairly, consistently and in accordance with policy and legislative requirements.
- Can develop effective systems, policies and processes that promote accountability and continuous improvement.
- Is highly organised, professional and able to work independently.
- Can build strong and productive relationships with governors, senior leaders and external stakeholders.
