Business Unit: 5034 - Civils South

Location: Rayleigh

Job Role

We are seeking a talented Quantity Surveyor to join our team on a major highways project in Southend, Essex. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering essential infrastructure works while supporting the commercial success of the project.
You will be responsible for managing the commercial aspects of a project or section of a larger scheme, ensuring strong cost control, contract compliance, and value optimisation throughout the project lifecycle.

Duties

Manage commercial activities across the project, supporting the Project Manager and Commercial Lead
Administer contracts with a strong focus on NEC (Option A preferred)
Lead subcontract procurement, including tendering, evaluation, and appointment
Prepare valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
Monitor project costs, forecasts, and cash flow to maximise financial performance
Implement robust change control processes, ensuring recovery of all variations and compensation events
Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
Produce accurate CVRs, reports, and forecasts
Manage subcontractor accounts, payments, and contractual notices
Work collaboratively with delivery teams to drive project success

Person Specification

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering or highways projects
Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (Option A essential/preferred)
Experience managing subcontractors and commercial processes end-to-end
Solid understanding of cost control, forecasting, and reporting
Ability to identify risks, manage change, and protect commercial position
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Ideally degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or a related field

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: Full Time - 40 hours - Monday to Friday
