Accounts Direct UK
We are looking for an experienced accountant to assist with the day-to-day management of our overseas production teams in Pakistan and India.
This is not simply a bookkeeping or accounts preparation role. The right person will help control workflow, check completed jobs, manage routines, monitor deadlines, and ensure that client work is properly reviewed and filed on time.
The role will involve working alongside and supporting our existing Practice Manager. You will help strengthen the management structure around the overseas team, ensuring that work is properly organised, followed up, reviewed, and completed within agreed routines.
The role is ideal for someone who understands UK accountancy practice work and enjoys bringing structure, discipline, and order to a busy production environment.
Key responsibilities
- Supporting the Practice Manager with the management of overseas production teams
- Coordinating accounts, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, and tax work allocated to teams in Pakistan and India
- Checking completed work before it is passed forward
- Monitoring job progress and ensuring deadlines are met
- Ensuring Companies House and HMRC filing dates are controlled properly
- Maintaining daily and weekly workflow routines
- Following up with team members where work is delayed, incomplete, or unclear
- Identifying errors, missing information, or recurring production issues
- Helping improve systems, checklists, and internal processes
- Reporting to management on job status, bottlenecks, and team performance
- Ensuring client files, working papers, and records are properly maintained
The person we are looking for
You should be organised, reliable, and comfortable managing people remotely. You must be able to spot problems early rather than wait for them to become emergencies.
You will need a good understanding of UK accounts production, bookkeeping, VAT, payroll, tax deadlines, Companies House filings, and HMRC compliance.
You should also be able to work constructively alongside our existing Practice Manager, supporting the current structure rather than replacing it.
You do not need to be a salesperson. This is an internal operational role focused on accuracy, control, communication, and delivery.
Essential skills
- UK accountancy practice experience
- Strong knowledge of accounts preparation and bookkeeping
- Understanding of VAT, payroll, Companies House, and HMRC filing requirements
- Ability to review work and identify errors
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to manage overseas staff respectfully but firmly
- Confidence using accountancy software and online filing systems
- Ability to work to routines, checklists, and deadlines
- Willingness to support and work alongside the existing Practice Manager
Desirable
- Experience managing offshore or remote teams
- Experience working with teams in Pakistan and/or India
- Knowledge of Pakistani business culture, working practices, or languages such as Urdu, Punjabi, or Hindi
- Experience with Xero and cloud bookkeeping
- Experience in a small or growing accountancy practice
- Comfortable improving systems and creating simple workflows
What we offer
This is an opportunity to take a key role in a growing accountancy and business advisory group.
The work is practical, important, and central to the smooth running of the practice. You will help ensure that overseas production is properly managed, deadlines are protected, and client work is completed to the required standard.
