The opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced New Business Property & Casualty (P&C) Underwriter to join our high-performing underwriting team in Manchester. In this role, you will play a key part in assessing and underwriting new business opportunities, driving profitable growth, and building strong relationships with brokers and clients.
As a trusted underwriting professional, you will use your technical expertise and market knowledge to make sound underwriting decisions while contributing to our commitment to delivering exceptional insurance solutions and service.

Key responsibilities:
- Assess and underwrite new Property & Casualty insurance business in line with underwriting appetite and guidelines.
- Evaluate risk exposures and determine appropriate coverage, terms, and pricing solutions.
- Work closely with brokers, agents, and clients to gather relevant information and negotiate business opportunities.
- Stay informed of market developments, emerging risks, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and key stakeholders to support business growth and retention.
- Ensure all underwriting activity complies with company policies, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Deliver a high standard of service and support to brokers and clients, fostering long-term partnerships.
- Contribute to team objectives by sharing knowledge, insights, and best practices across the underwriting function
Your skills and experience:
- Proven experience in Property & Casualty (P&C) underwriting, with a strong focus on new business development and risk assessment.
- Sound understanding of commercial insurance products, underwriting principles, and market dynamics.
- Strong analytical and judgement skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and make confident underwriting decisions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence outcomes with brokers and stakeholders.
- A collaborative approach, coupled with the ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
- Proficiency in insurance systems and Microsoft Office applications, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- A relevant professional qualification, such as ACII, is desirable; however, candidates working towards qualification will also be considered.
- A customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service and fostering long-term broker and client relationships.
