Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled Portable Appliance Tester to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, testing, and maintaining portable electrical appliances to ensure safety and compliance with relevant standards. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in electrical maintenance or related fields to contribute to safety assurance across various sites. The position requires a proactive approach, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently or lead small teams when necessary.
Duties
- Conduct thorough testing and inspection of portable electrical appliances using specialised testing equipment.
- Identify potential faults or safety hazards and document findings accurately.
- Perform necessary repairs or coordinate with maintenance teams for equipment repair and maintenance.
- Maintain detailed records of tests, inspections, and repairs in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure all appliances meet current safety standards and compliance regulations.
- Assist in developing testing schedules and procedures to optimise efficiency and safety.
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff or trainees as required, demonstrating leadership qualities.
- Collaborate with other departments such as facilities management or construction teams to ensure electrical safety standards are upheld during ongoing projects.
Skills
- Mechanical knowledge with a solid understanding of electrical systems and appliance components.
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical diagrams effectively.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in supervising or training team members.
- Strong equipment repair skills, including troubleshooting faults in electrical appliances.
- Knowledge of air conditioning systems, maintenance procedures, and general building services is advantageous.
- Experience in construction environments or facilities maintenance is desirable.
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail for record keeping and compliance documentation.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively across teams and report findings clearly.
The position is offered on a temporary basis initially, with the potential to become a permanent role based on performance and business requirements, providing excellent opportunities for long-term career development within the organisation.
Pay: £25,000.00-£28,000.00 per year
