JW Buckleys Limited is a long-established family bakery supplying both wholesale and retail customers across the region. We are looking for a hardworking and reliable Confectioner to join our busy production team.
This is not a small artisan bakery role. We operate a high-volume manufacturing bakery producing between 750 and 1,000 cakes and confectionery products daily. The successful candidate must be capable of working efficiently while maintaining excellent quality and presentation standards.
Main Duties
- Mixing cake batters, fillings, icings, and confectionery products.
- Producing slab cakes, brownies, traybakes, slices, traditional cakes, vanilla slices, and custard products.
- Filling, icing, piping, and decorating fresh cream cakes.
- Decorating slab cakes with a variety of toppings and finishes.
- Marking, portioning, and cutting cakes and slices accurately.
- Working to daily production schedules and manufacturing targets.
- Maintaining food safety, hygiene, and quality standards at all times.
- Assisting with general bakery production duties as required.
What We're Looking For
- Previous confectionery, bakery, food production, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Experience in cake decorating, piping, mixing, and baking would be advantageous.
- Good attention to detail and consistency.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team.
- Must have own transport and be able to make their own way to and from work.
Pay & Benefits
- Starting wage from £13.50 per hour, depending on experience.
- Wage review after 3 months.
- Monday to Friday working pattern.
- 8–10 hour shifts.

Training Opportunities
No experience but willing to learn?
We are prepared to train the right motivated individual. Trainee positions are available at National Minimum Wage while learning the trade, with opportunities to progress and increase earnings as skills develop.
