Casual Car Documentation - The successful candidate will be a designated Casual Car User which means that car journeys may be necessary on an occasional basis, but are not essential to the role. If you do drive, you must always hold a full valid driving licence and provide your own car for use at work, as well as provide all the appropriate documentation. You will receive an allowance per mile of business use.

You will be responsible for a busy and varied workload in a friendly and supportive team, focussing on inspection programmes, responding to service requests, undertaking investigations and sampling. The role also involves the inspection of premises required to be registered for ear piercing, tattooing/acupuncture etc, processing of Export Health certificates and support to EHO’s/EHP’s in the team. Support may also be required for project work. Training will be provided where required.

Essential requirements for the role:
- Communication Skills:Writes convincingly and clearly, succinctly and correctly, avoids the unnecessary use of jargon or complicated language; writes in a well structured and logical way and structures information to meet the needs and understanding of the intended audience. Is able to effectively transfer key and complex information to all levels of staff, adapting the style of communication as necessary and ensuring that this information is understood.
- Analytical Skills:Ability to absorb, understand and quickly assimilate complex information and concepts and compare information from a number of different sources.
- Planning & Organising:Excellent time management skills, creating own work schedules, prioritising, preparing in advance and setting realistic timescales for own self and others. Has the ability to visualise a sequence of actions needed to achieve a specific goal and how to estimate the resources required.
- Problem Solving & Decision Making:Ability to formulate independently a range of options for new or unfamiliar situations and to select the appropriate course of action to produce a logical, practical and acceptable solution. An ability to make independent decisions of a relatively uniform nature.

We will consider candidates who are near completion of the professional qualification leading towards CIEH registered Food Safety Practitioner status or equivalent. Development salary may apply whilst working towards registered status.
The experience below would be beneficial but is not essential:
Desirable requirements that would be useful in this role:
- Degree or Masters qualification in Environmental Health or Higher Certificate in Food Control or equivalent.
- Hold EHRB registration or Chartered Status with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH).
- Have knowledge of the Corporate Enforcement Policy and the Regulators Code, enforcement procedures including preparation of prosecution case files, Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) interview processes, Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act, Data Protection Act, General Data Protection Regulations and giving evidence in court.
- An understanding of legislation relevant to enforcement in Food Safety and areas of Health and Safety and a practical approach to its application. A good understanding of the UK legal system is required including a detailed understanding of a large number of Acts, regulations, guidance and codes of practice. An ability to clearly communicate requirements to businesses.
- Willing to consent to and apply for an enhanced disclosure check.
- Previous experience working in a regulatory area would be beneficial
