Job Overview
We are seeking professional Face-to-Face Appointment Interpreters based in Greater Manchester who are qualified at Level 3 in any language. This role involves providing accurate and confidential interpretation services during face-to-face appointments ONLY, ensuring effective communication between clients and service providers. The position is ideal for multilingual individuals with excellent communication skills and a passion for facilitating understanding across diverse communities. All roles are paid, including internship opportunities, and require a commitment to delivering high-quality interpretation services.
Duties
- Attend face-to-face appointments to interpret conversations accurately and confidentially
- Facilitate clear communication between clients and professionals across various sectors such as healthcare, legal, social services, and community organisations
- Maintain professional conduct and impartiality at all times during interpreting sessions
- Prepare for appointments by reviewing relevant terminology and context where necessary
- Manage scheduling of appointments efficiently to ensure timely service delivery
- Keep detailed records of interpreted sessions in accordance with organisational policies
- Uphold confidentiality and data protection standards throughout all interactions
Skills
- Multilingual proficiency with fluency in English and at least one other language recognised at Level 3 qualification in Interpreting courses or higher
- Bilingual ability to interpret accurately between English and the target language(s)
- Strong communication skills to convey messages clearly and effectively
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple appointments efficiently
- Proficient typing skills for documentation purposes
- Cultural sensitivity and professionalism when engaging with diverse client groups
- Ability to adapt quickly to different settings and handle sensitive information discreetly
