Role Title: Performance Engineering Technician

Salary: Up to £33,000 per annum (dependent upon experience)

Contract: 18-month fixed-term contract

Location: National Cycling Centre, Manchester

What will you be doing?

This role sits within the Great Britain Cycling Team (GBCT), the country's most successful Olympic and Paralympic team in history. Now is an incredibly exciting year to join GBCT. Fresh off the back of winning 11 Olympic and 22 Paralympic medals at the most recent Games in Paris, as well as having recently celebrated 20 years of the GBCT pathway, we are a team with high ambitions to continue this legacy at LA 2028 and beyond.

A key focus of this role is rapid prototyping and model making to support wind tunnel testing and equipment development activities. With a focus on adapting and developing equipment in line with UCI rules coming into force in 2027. The successful candidate will use additive manufacturing (3D printing), CAD, and other fabrication techniques to turn concepts into physical reality, enabling the team to iterate quickly and test innovative solutions.

What we're looking for:

The Great Britain Cycling Team is seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Technician to support the team's performance objectives through rapid prototyping and technical manufacturing. This role offers the opportunity to work at the cutting edge of cycling technology, collaborating with world-class athletes, coaches, aerodynamicists, and performance engineers to develop and test innovative equipment solutions.

To be successful in this role you will be:

Practical problem solver - You have a hands-on approach to engineering challenges and take satisfaction in turning concepts into physical reality. You can think creatively to overcome manufacturing constraints and find efficient solutions.
Detail-oriented - You understand that precision matters in performance applications. You take pride in producing high-quality work and are meticulous in your finishing and quality control processes.
Technically curious - You have a genuine interest in new manufacturing technologies and materials. You actively seek to expand your skillset and explore innovative approaches to rapid prototyping.
Collaborative - You work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, translating engineering requirements into manufacturable solutions. You communicate clearly about capabilities, timelines, and constraints.
Self-motivated - You manage your workload effectively, prioritising tasks to meet testing schedules. You take ownership of projects from concept through to delivery and are proactive in identifying potential issues.
