About the Role

Mayflower Medical Centre, in Harwich, is looking to recruit an organised and experienced medical secretary to our team. The role is being offered on a part-time basis, for 30 hours per week.

The main responsibilities of the role include:

Providing a full secretarial service including the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals, meeting minutes, memorandums, etc.
Handling queries regarding hospital appointments and treatments.
Ensuring that any requests for information are appropriately dealt with and that all subsequent charges are invoiced appropriately.
Arranging meetings (to include the booking of rooms) as required.
Designing template letters and forms for use throughout the practice.
Maintaining the clinical system, in an accurate and secure manner.

About the Candidate

We would welcome applications from those with the following skills and experience:

Experience working within healthcare desirable.
Audio- and touch-typing skills.
Strong administrative experience and good organisation skills.
Sound knowledge of medical terminology.
Excellent general IT skills including MS Office and experience of working with a clinical system.
Excellent communication skills.
Understanding of the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times.
Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure.
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.

About Us

We are a friendly, well-organised training practice, looking after 17,600 patients in an impressive purpose-built GP surgery, located within a community hospital, in the seaside town of Harwich in Essex.
