Longcliffe is seeking a Yard Traffic Marshal to join our Processing Team at Brassington Moor Quarry and play a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective management of vehicle movements across our site.
With operations centred around our two quarries, Brassington Moor and Ryder Point, Longcliffe produces over 100 products serving a diverse range of industries, from animal feeds and agricultural fertilisers to glass. We are committed to providing our customers with the right products, at the right time, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and environmental responsibility.
In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring traffic flow throughout our Brassington Moor site, directing vehicles safely, supporting loading and unloading activities, and ensuring all visitors, contractors and drivers comply with site safety procedures. You will work closely with colleagues across Processing, Weighbridge, Quarry and Engineering teams to maintain safe and efficient operations.
To fulfil the requirements of this role, you will be able to:
- Monitor traffic movements across the yard and proactively manage congestion.
- Direct and control the safe movement of vehicles around site.
- Coordinate with drivers to ensure safe loading and unloading activities.
- Enforce site safety procedures and promote a positive safety culture.
- Communicate effectively with operational teams via radio and other communication systems.
- Identify and report hazards, incidents, unsafe conditions and near misses.
- Support yard organisation and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure customer requirements are met in line with operational demands.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and safety discussions.
Accountability
The Yard Traffic Marshal will report directly to the Processing & Yard Supervisor and Processing Team Leader.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Compliance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Continuous monitoring of yard traffic and vehicle movements.
- Directing vehicles safely within operational areas.
- Supervising drivers and visitors whilst on site.
- Maintaining pedestrian and vehicle safety controls.
- Reporting safety concerns, incidents and operational issues.
- Assisting with investigations where required.
- Maintaining clear access routes and high housekeeping standards.
- Reviewing traffic volumes and operational priorities
- Attending team meetings and contributing to operational improvements.
- Ensuring safe use of equipment and work areas.

- Experience working within a 24-hour operational site
