Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Site Manager with a strong background in Natural stone, heritage, or façade installation to oversee on-site operations from mobilization through to handover. The Site Manager will be responsible for coordinating labour, managing subcontractors, ensuring H&S compliance, maintaining programmed and quality standards, and liaising with clients or project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site operations for stone installation projects, ensuring work is delivered safely, on time, and to specification with a hands-on approach.
- Coordinate and supervise site teams, including stone fixers, masons, and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations (CDM 2015).
- Read and interpret technical drawings, setting out plans, and method statements.
- Liaise with main contractors, architects, and internal project teams to ensure smooth communication and workflow.
- Manage materials deliveries, site logistics, and plant requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure all work meets company and client standards.
- Track progress against programme and report to the company Directors on schedule, costs, and any variations.
- Maintain site documentation including daily diaries, risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and toolbox talks.
- Resolve on-site issues promptly and effectively.
Requirements
Essential:
- Proven experience as a Site Manager within the construction or specialist subcontracting sectors (Natural Stonework, heritage, façades, or similar).
- Strong understanding of stone fixing techniques, lifting/handling of stone, and sequencing of installation works.
- SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.
- CSCS card (Gold or Black).
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Strong focus on quality, safety, and productivity.
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and setting-out information.
- Competent IT skills (MS Office, site reporting tools).
Desirable:
- Background in stonemasonry or architectural stone installation.
- First Aid at Work certificate.
- Temporary Works Supervisor training.
- Knowledge of façade systems or restoration works.
- Full UK driving licence.
