Operations & Compliance Lead (Part-Time)
We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Operations & Compliance Lead to oversee business processes, systems, and compliance activities across the organisation.
This is a standalone, autonomous role offering full ownership of compliance, ISO processes, and operational systems within a growing business.
The role focuses on improving operational efficiency, ensuring regulatory, ISO, and GDPR compliance, maintaining policies and procedures, supporting financial and staff governance, and working closely with the leadership team.
The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing the business for ISO audits, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors, and driving continuous improvement across all operational areas.
Salary & Hours
£28,000 – £32,000 pro rata (25 hours per week)
or £22 – £25 per hour, depending on experience

Responsibilities, Operations & Process Improvement
- Review and evaluate business systems, processes, and workflows to identify inefficiencies and implement improvements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational effectiveness and organisational performance.
- Monitor operational performance and recommend changes to optimise efficiency and reduce risk.
Compliance, ISO & Data Governance
- Lead the organisation’s ISO compliance activities, ensuring all systems, processes, and documentation meet required standards.
- Take ownership of ISO audit preparation and delivery, acting as the primary point of contact for auditors.
- Maintain audit readiness throughout the year, ensuring all documentation and processes are up to date.
- Ensure the organisation remains compliant with GDPR and data protection requirements.
- Develop and maintain controls to support compliance across operational and IT systems.
Policies, Procedures & Documentation
- Review, update, and maintain company policies and procedures to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance.
- Develop and manage documentation to support operational, compliance, and audit requirements.
- Ensure proper version control and accessibility of all business documentation.
Governance & Leadership Support
- Act as a key member of the management team, supporting strategic and operational decision-making.
- Organise, coordinate, and minute management meetings, ensuring actions are tracked and completed.
- Support internal governance processes and continuous improvement initiatives.
Staff Compliance & Due Diligence
- Ensure all staff compliance processes are completed and up to date, including DBS checks.
- Monitor and maintain professional registrations (e.g. medical/MIA registrations) for relevant staff and representatives.
- Conduct pre-employment checks, including reference checks and documentation verification.
- Support the preparation and management of employment contracts in line with current regulations.
Financial & Accounts Oversight
- Oversee accounts processes to ensure financial activities are up to date and well managed.
- Monitor outstanding payments, ensuring monies owed are followed up and collected promptly.
- Ensure purchase orders are raised, tracked, and processed through to payment.
- Support the business in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring all payments and obligations are up to date.
Stakeholder & Coordination Responsibilities
- Liaise with external stakeholders, including auditors, representatives, and business partners.
- Coordinate meetings, conferences, and industry events.
- Support planning and logistics for key events, including occasional travel where required.
Experience
- Proven experience in operations, compliance, or business process improvement roles.
- Strong understanding of ISO standards and audit processes.
- Experience preparing for and managing ISO audits.
- Strong knowledge of IT systems, data governance, and GDPR compliance.
- Experience in staff compliance processes (e.g. DBS checks, regulatory requirements).
- Experience with financial administration, including invoicing, purchase orders, and payment tracking.
- Demonstrated ability to review and improve systems, processes, and workflows.
- Experience developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and governance documentation.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience working with or supporting senior leadership.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
